Top 5 Free Abortion Clinics in Dallas

Top 5 Free Abortion Clinics in Dallas

How We Picked

Staff – Staff must be experienced, friendly, and professional.
Facilities – Facilities must be clean and well-equipped for different types of abortions. We chose clinics that had equipment for surgical abortions.
Services Offered – The clinic must at least provide abortion counseling and aftercare services to patients to ensure as few psychological effects as possible.
Reputation – It must be a trusted abortion clinic. We put preference to clinics that are known to be discreet and welcoming.

    Pros

    • Offers multiple abortion options
    • Good aftercare
    • Friendly and helpful staff
    • Well-connected to out-of-state abortion clinics

    Cons

    • Can be insensitive to patients
    • Can be inconsistent with rules
    • Long waiting hours

Southwestern Women’s Surgery Center in Greenville offers a wide variety of abortion services.

While abortion has been outlawed in Texas, Southwestern Women’s is well-connected to nearby abortion clinics in New Mexico.

Fortunately, Texas law still allows abortions for life-threatening cases. This clinic still provides abortions for these types of cases but will refer the rest to out-of-state clinics.

Its services give you free STD tests, pregnancy tests, and abortion counseling to help you know your options. It offers medical and surgical abortions and has many doctors at the ready.

Clients have told us that it gives you the best aftercare in the state, and the staff will always make sure you’re physically and mentally okay before discharging you.

Of course, we were also told that the staff is very friendly and helpful.

They, however, be quite insensitive at times. While some clinics will try to convince you not to get an abortion, Southwestern Women’s does the opposite.

Its staff will tailor the information they give you to convince you to get an abortion, which can be bothersome for those who still have doubts in their minds.

The clinic can be inconsistent with its policies regarding kids, sometimes allowing them in and sometimes not, depending on the on-duty staff.

We’ve also been informed of long waiting times, so be sure to bring something to help pass the time.

    Pros

    • Clean and well-equipped facilities
    • Well-connected to out-of-state clinics
    • Doctors are very experienced

    Cons

    • Some counselors can be insensitive and overly-religious

Prestonwood Pregnancy Center helps both future mothers and abortion patients. It is best known for its great pregnancy care.

The clinic has friendly and capable staff. Previous patients told us that they were very helpful and attentive to their needs.

Its doctors are all very experienced and always available. The clinic does, however, operate the same way as other clinics, so its doctors only provide abortions to special pregnancy cases.

Prestonwood is well-connected to other abortion clinics. It provides free pregnancy and STD tests to help you determine when to schedule an appointment with the non-Texan clinics.

Its facilities are all very clean and well-equipped for surgical abortions, but its staff will relentlessly try to convince you to keep your baby.

Many of its patients have told us that the clinic’s staff are very pro-life. During their abortion counseling sessions, all these patients were given lectures about Jesus and were asked to pray with the staff for the health of their babies.

If the patients decide to push through with the abortion, they will often receive judgemental stares but ultimately still be given their abortion options.

If the patients decide to keep the baby, they will be given many pregnancy guides and free parental coaching.

    Pros

    • Experienced doctors
    • Accepts walk-ins
    • Clean facilities

    Cons

    • Rude and over-religious staff

White Rose Women’s Center is another Dallas abortion clinic best known for its pregnancy care. It provides its patients with many options for their pregnancies, offering abortion, adoption, and keeping the baby.

The clinic is well-equipped for all types of abortions, but its staff is very pro-life. Its doctors have years of pregnancy and abortion experience.

Setting appointments are a breeze, but you don’t really have to set one up. It is one of the few abortion clinics that accept walk-in patients.

While its facilities are easy to access, the staff acts as the main barrier for many patients. Former patients informed us of the staff being very insensitive and adamant about their pro-life beliefs.

Its abortion counseling includes an odd, hour-long video filled with discouraging information on abortions. The narrator repeatedly tries to convince you to keep your baby.

The staff can be quite insensitive to its patients. Some reported to us that they’d write “hello mommy” on their ultrasound pictures!

Regardless of its insensitive staff, White Rose is still one of the few free abortion clinics in Dallas.

The clinic still operates under Texas law, so only patients with life-threatening pregnancies can avail of their abortions.

It’s well-connected to other clinics though, so you still have many available options.

    4. North Dallas Shelburne Health Center

    Pros

    • Clean and well-equipped facilities
    • Competent and educated staff
    • Well-connected to other clinics

    Cons

    • Staff can be rude
    • Doctor comes once a month
    • Late appointments

The Shelburne Health Center in North Dallas is a member of Planned Parenthood’s clinic network. It offers free and affordable healthcare to pregnant women.

Being a member of Planned Parenthood means its facilities are modern and clean and can provide you with any form of abortion. It also has an in-house pharmacy for prescriptions.

Its staff are all trained professionals and will guide you through the procedures. They will often stay with you until you’ve mentally and physically recovered before discharging you.

We said “often” because the staff can be quite inconsistent at times. Some patients told us that there were times when they would be rude and visibly annoyed whenever they’d have questions.

We were also told that there is usually only one on-duty nurse per shift, which may cause them to be overworked.

Fortunately, this clinic is well-connected, so you can get yourself referred to other clinics if Shelburne is too busy.

The clinic’s doctor apparently comes just once a month, leading to messy appointments. Former patients told us that they scheduled appointments only to be rescheduled on the day itself because of the doctor’s unavailability.

Whenever the doctor’s available, appointments push through but often at a much later time. Some patients had to wait hours after their appointment.

    5. Addison Health Center

    Pros

    • Friendly and informative staff
    • Fast appointment-setting
    • Clean and well-equipped facilities

    Cons

    • Short working hours
    • Inconsistent service quality

Planned Parenthood’s Addison Health Center is one of the last Planned Parenthood clinics still operating in Dallas. It is very clean and modern, and best known for its speedy service.

Its staff are all professionals and very empathetic. They will hold your hand throughout the process and readily answer any questions you may have.

Patients told us that the clinic is very quiet and peaceful. It also has an in-house pharmacy for your abortion pills and other prescriptions.

Its appointment system is one of the best in Dallas. Setting one up is fast and will always start on time.

Sadly, the downside is it only operates for two days a week. It’s a good thing then that the clinic has an excellent referral system to redirect you to the nearest available clinic.

It follows Texas laws, so unless your pregnancy puts your life at risk, you will be redirected to the nearest out-of-state clinic.

Planned Parenthood has clinics all over the country, so you don’t have to worry about the lack of options.

Its staff can also be quite inconsistent at times. The service quality is excellent most of the time, but a handful of patients informed us of worse experiences.

The staff can be rude. On one occasion, a patient’s prescription was filled incorrectly, denying them their medicine until it was resolved after a few days.
